GILMORE GIRLS!!!

I might not have started watching at the beginning but since then I'm pretty sure I've seen every episode at least 5 times. The witty banter and small town charm PULLED me in! I wanted to BE those girls (without the horrible family relationships thank you very much).

I was always pulling for Rory and Logan. So many of my friends would disagree with me. Did you watch it, what did you think?

I'm SO thankful for my Mama! We were the only 2 girls in the house growing up, 2 vs. 3 and we almost always got outvoted on everything!

I can't imagine having any other mom growing up. She understands my crazy emotions and can handle my attitude and my messiness. She's strict enough to put me in my place and loving enough to let me wipe my tears after hours of crying.

Doing this post reminds me just how lucky I am to have her when so many people won't ever have relationships as good as ours. GOD has blessed me so much!

People say we look alike, I haven't decided what I think about that. What do you think?

Kalled to Koinonia

The word Koinonia is Greek for Community.

Once a semester the St.Lawrence Center puts on a Koinonia Retreat. I was a retreatant on Koinonia 11, on music team for Koinonia 12 and this semester (Koinonia 13) I'm the music team coordinator! Each retreat has it's own theme and it's own patron saint chosen by the Lay Director. SLK 13:
Theme:  Home Is Where The Heart Is
     (This holds a particularly special place in my heart! HOME is the name of my hometown!)

Home is where your heart is.
So where is your heart?
Is your heart with God?
Is your heart with another person?
Is your heart with your family?
Is your heart in the right place?
Is your heart in the wrong place?
Where do you want to call Home when this life is over?
Is your heart in heaven?If you're like me in this, which I hope you are, you're going to want to call HEAVEN home.
My conclusion: If your heart is with God than your home will be in heaven.

For me being on SLK 13 is a great way for my heart to grow closer to Christ. We commit to adding a new aspect to our existing prayer life. After looking into what I've been doing I've noticed void in the area of praying for other people. Not that I never do it, but I don't do it as regularly as I'd like. 

I've decided that my commitment will be to pray for every music team member by name every day. This will be in addition to the two team members that I was responsible for praying for since I got my assignment as music team coordinator at the beginning of the semester. 

Patron Saint: Blessed Cardinal John Henry Newman
     He's the patron of Catholic campus center's just like the St.Lawrence center!

Before I knew that Blessed Cardinal John Henry Newman was going to be the patron of SLK 13 I knew very little about him. I still don't know a lot but I am VERY willing to learn.

At the first team meeting all of the members get to find out what their role will be for SLK 13. To find out we head over to the chapel that the Sister Apostles of the Interior Life have in their house.  In adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrament we are called to our role on SLK 13.

Our answer to this call, to Jesus Christ, was taken straight from a prayer from Blessed Cardinal John Henry Newman. "I shall do good. I shall do your work." I'm so grateful that today this prayer was revealed to me, God has fantastic timing!

A Meditation

Lord of the dance

My Lord is a Lord of dancing. Never was it made so clear to me than tonight.

A very large group of friends/acquaintances from St.Lawrence had a plan tonight to go country swing dancing at a local place. When we got there we were disappointed to see that they were closed for maintenance.

However this could not stop us! We just moved the party to a friends house. We were swing dancing in the living room, dining room AND the kitchen. We line danced and twirled and swirled and dipped.

It wasn't until the end of the night when a friend sitting beside me on the couch started singing Lord of the Dance that I realized God's hand in all of this.

There's a line in the song saying 'I will lead you all wherever you may be I will lead you all in the dance said He' that really stood out to me.

God led me to this amazing group of people. When I came to college I had a completely different plan for myself. God took the 'wherever you may be' line in that song and really used it!! HE led me to St.Lawrence, to these amazing people, and ultimately back to Him.

Tonight if it weren't for God in my life who knows what I would've been doing. Even if I would've been dancing, it definitely wouldn't have been for God.

I am so blessed by our Lord and I pray that you reading this may see God in your lives in ways you haven't before!

Spiritually Adopt an Unborn Child

My blog browsing has come up with some pretty amazing stuff today, I can't help but to share!

I've come across a renewed will to see an end to legalized abortion in this country, which has inspired some of my blog searches. Today I came across this prayer:

Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I love you very much. I beg of you to spare the life of the unborn child I have spiritually adopted, who is in danger of abortion.
Say this prayer every day for nine months to save a baby’s life!

I've started today, maybe I'll look into a counter or some widget to put in the sidebar to track the progress? If anyone knows how to do that I'd love some help!

Adoration on a Secular Campus

I know for some Christians when choosing what college to attend, a secular university doesn't even make the list. Everyone has their own preferences, things they choose to deal with and things they choose to bypass. 


For about a nano-second I considered Benedictine College in Atchison. It's a smaller college where a LARGE percentage of students there are Catholic and my oldest brother went there. I'm sure I would've done fine there but I don't think I would've faced the growth and challenges that I'm facing here at The University of Kansas.


Now being surrounded by Catholics is fantastic, I love it!


However, becuase we are children of God we are called to bring others TO Christ. What better opportunity to evangelize than to a campus of 30,000?


One Friday a month we have adoration on campus. That Friday just happened to be today. I woke up and my roommate was throwing a fit, she was mad at me and I was annoyed with her. I went into adoration with a cloudy head, not wanting to pray for anything in particular. Five minutes before I needed to leave for work a girl walked in that I'd never seen before.


(Not that I'm claiming to know everyone but I could recognize a large majority of the active Catholic's on campus, or at least the one's that go to St.Lawrence.)


I'd never seen this girl before. I don't know if she was Catholic or not. What I do know is that this girl had an opportunity to be with Jesus Christ today because of the St.Lawrence center. So that became my prayer for the last 5 minutes I was in adoration. That God would continue to use the St.Lawrence center to bring students to Him. And if it be His will that He begin to use me in a bigger way to bring others to HIM.


I'm not for sure exactly what it is that I'm asking of God, but now I've opened myself up to listening to the possibilities.
